On May 27, 1967, Australians voted in a referendum to change how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were referred to in the Constitution. How far have we come since 1967?

Right Wrongs commemorates the 50th anniversary of the referendum of 27 May 1967 and is a partnership project between the ABC, NSLA and AIATSIS. The website sets the scene and chronicles what happened in the lead up to 1967 and the events surrounding the Referendum, as well as what has happened in the 50 years since. It is a mixture of archival and contemporary stories from photos, videos and ephemera to audio packages, text and audience contributed content.

Right Wrongs was an initiative of NSLA’s Indigenous Project.

Bibliography

Australian NSLA member libraries and AIATSIS contributed materials from their collections to the Right Wrongs website, including oral histories, ephemera, newspapers, serials and manuscripts and photographs. These are listed by contributing organisation below, with the call number in brackets.
