Update: Scoping the implementation of Official RDA

This week, NSLA concludes its three-month project to scope the implementation of Official RDA for the library and information sector in Australia.

During the past three months, Project Officer Melissa Parent (Senior Librarian, Metadata, State Library Victoria) has consulted with colleagues representing the breadth of the sector. Melissa’s report responds to the needs of Australian library practitioners, proposes a timeline to the full implementation of Official RDA, and analyses three different models of collaboration governance to achieve that implementation. Melissa, together with a steering group of representatives from Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS), the Australian Library and Information Association, the Council of Australian University Librarians, CAVAL and APLA, warmly thank the many colleagues across the sector who gave generously their time and expertise to help us understand the use and needs of RDA in the Australian context.

The report and its proposed steps will now be considered by NSLA Advisory Groups before its delivery to the NSLA Board.

Board meeting update

The NSLA Board met last week over two days of online meetings. This provided a forum for Board Directors to review the progress of ongoing work across the NSLA program, and to begin discussions and set directions for future work that will continue NSLA’s mission to advance Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand’s national, state and territory libraries and to drive positive, respectful change for the benefit of Australians and New Zealanders.
